Our jewelry is finished with a high-quality PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) coating . In a special vacuum process, a thin layer of metal is permanently bonded to the stainless steel. The result is a surface that not only looks elegant but is also durable enough for everyday wear. We offer a 1-year warranty on the coating.

Stainless steel with PVD coating vs. gold vermeil
1. Durability & Longevity
- PVD coating on stainless steel: The coating is bonded to the metal at a molecular level in a vacuum chamber at high temperature. It does not chip and hardly wears down – even with daily wear, water, or perspiration.
- Gold vermeil: This is a gold plating on sterling silver with a gold layer of at least 2.5 micrometers. It wears off significantly faster with regular contact with skin, perfume, water, or friction.
→ Winner: PVD – significantly more durable and suitable for everyday use.
2. Environmental friendliness
- PVD: No use of acids, cyanides, or chemical baths. No toxic wastewater. Energy-efficient and virtually waste-free.
- Gold vermeil: Uses the classic electroplating process (electrolytic method), which consumes large quantities of water, chemicals, and energy. Furthermore, gold mining usually comes from unsustainable sources with an enormous ecological footprint.
→ Winner: PVD – significantly more environmentally friendly and resource-efficient.
3. Material basis
- Stainless steel: Rustproof, recyclable, hypoallergenic, extremely robust.
- Sterling silver (in the case of vermeil): Softer, oxidizes over time (tarnishes), requires frequent care.

Stainless steel with PVD coating is more durable, easier to care for and significantly cleaner from an environmental perspective than gold vermeil.
While gold vermeil often stands for a "real gold look", PVD jewelry combines the same aesthetics with better durability, sustainability and everyday usability.

PVD coating (Physical Vapor Deposition) is a modern, clean process in which metals are vaporized in a vacuum chamber and applied to the jewelry in a thin layer.
In contrast to classic electroplating (electrolyte process), no toxic chemicals, acids or heavy metals are used.
That means:
- No chemical waste – the process leaves no environmentally harmful residues.
- No water consumption for rinsing baths – electroplating processes require large quantities of water for cleaning.
- No skin contact with nickel or lead – the surface is hypoallergenic and safe for sensitive skin.
- Extremely durable – less wear and tear means less replacement and therefore less resource consumption.
In short: PVD is clean, safe and durable, for you and for the environment.
